Happy Sunday/Monday (this was supposed to go up on Sunday… it’s now Tuesday…)and welcome to another better late than never blog post! I haven’t done a “Let’s Get Chatty” post in a hot second so I thought I would sit down and chit chats with you for a little bit.
“Hunter X Hunter”
For the past couple of months, I have been watching the anime show “Hunter X Hunter”. If you don’t know what “Hunter X Hunter” is, it is a show based on the character named Gon, who seeks to become a hunter (which is kind of like a magician, but they are capable of tracking down treasures, rare beasts, and even other individuals) to find his father who left him at a young age. While taking the Hunter Exam, Gon meets and befriends three other hunter applicants and go on many adventures as Gon seeks to find his father. After 6 seasons, tonight we finally finished the series. I was very sad to see it end but was very pleased with how it ended.
Now if you are planning on watching the series or currently watching it, you may want to skip this section, but if you have seen the show or not planning on watching it anytime soon I can say (without any major spoilers) that Gon does somehow finally meet his father. Being a viewer who has watched Gon’s journey of finding his father finally come to an end and him having a conversation with his father like he’s always wanted warms my heart up so much. He went through so much to become a strong enough hunter to be accepted by his father it’s so nice to see them both talking and laughing under the stars (and I mean it quite literally… watch the show you will know :D).
In the ending credits, it shows each of the characters that were shown throughout the series, and it made me think (and if you’ve seen the anime, you will understand and maybe have the same feelings as me) WHERE THE FUCK HAS KURAPIKA BEEN?! In the 5th season, Gon fights his toughest battle yet, and for most of the 6th season, he is in the hospital fighting for his life. All of his friends were there trying to find a way to save him, Killua was out risking his life finding a way to save him but Kurapika was not there. Leorio even called him but there was no answer. All it showed was Kurapika sitting in an unknown place (and in a suit?!). Going forward to the ending credits it shows Kurapika in an alley. He’s still sitting, but it reveals him sitting in front of a row of Scarlet eyes aka the eyes of his fallen clan. So that hints that he’s been out collecting the Scarlet eyes since we last saw him. Big whoop, he collected the eyes, YOUR DEAR FRIEND WAS ON HIS DEATHBED!
“But he’s broken from not being able to fully get revenge on the Phantom Troupe.” —aka killing them.
He pretty much defeated the boss by taking away his Nen so I’d say he got his revenge, but who helped him get his revenge? Gon did. Who risked their life in facing them to help? Gon did. Gon was there for Kurapika, but when Gon was fighting for his life and needed his closest friends Kurapika disappears, answering the phone to no one to do what… find and collect the Scarlet eyes. I feel Kurapika is being really selfish with everything. Yes, it is very sad that his clan was slaughtered because Chrollo liked the Scarlet in their eyes and it made a really good season in the show (one of my favorite seasons, maybe even my favorite season) but like I said earlier, Kurapika got his revenge. Wouldn’t after getting revenge make you feel somewhat at ease? Apparently not because he had to collect the eyes. And for what reason? Did he feel like he had to keep them safe? Did he feel like he needed the eyes to be in better hands? So many questions we will never really know the answers to. One answer we will always know is true is that Gon is a living breathing friend and a really good friend I might say. Gon was completely willing to give up his life (you know what episode I’m talking about) to help his dear friend. If Killua didn’t risk he like to save Gon, he could have died and Kurapika would have never known… he (in my opinion) was just centered around getting the Scarlet eyes. Yes, I know this all may sound mean, but I feel like I’ve lost a little respect for Kurapika since he wasn’t there for Gon when he needed his friends. Other than Kurapika not being there it was awesome to see characters from past seasons show up in the last season due to a reason I won’t spoil.
Would I recommend “Hunter X Hunter”?
Moving away from that little rant I really want to emphasize how much I really do love this show. In season one you see little Gon with a dream. Then he takes the Hunter Exam, meets his friends and his personal dream became a group dream. Throughout the seasons you see Gon and his friends through different experiences grow as not only Hunters but as friends (especially Gon and Killua). Then finally in the final season you see them stronger and ever, and the season ends in a recap with the main theme playing. Which speaking of the music, I love how in the 6 seasons the theme song always remained the same. The animation changed to go with each season but the song always stayed the same. I think that’s why it felt so nostalgic listening to it at the very end. I won’t deny it, I shed a tear.
So if you are looking for a new anime, I totally recommend “Hunter X Hunter”!! It has a great story, strong characters (not even just the main cast, there are a lot of awesome and lovable minor characters), and not a lot of filler episodes (there’s like maybe 3??)!
10 out of 10… would recommend!!
“Attack on Titan” Season 2 Premiere
With every ending, there is always a new beginning and that true even in this situation. Just as we were finishing up “Hunter X Hunter” I saw notifications across social media sharing that the premiere of season two of “Attack on Titan” premiered this weekend. I, of course, was excited as any other fan but I will be honest…I just hopped on the “Attack on Titan” boat last year. So I only had to wait for season two (because of course, I loved it) for a few months, not the four years everyone else had to wait. In a way I’m kind of glad I didn’t watch it until recently, I would have gotten so impatient with waiting! But season two is finally here and after watching episode 27 (S2E1) I am so so ready for the rest of the season! After finishing the episode (don’t worry I won’t spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t seen the episode), the first thing I thought was that this season is going to be great.
I also read online that this season is said to be shorter than season 1? If it’s jam pack of the awesome edge of seat action then I’m totally in! Honestly, no matter how long you’ve been in the fan boat, we as fans just want to see the characters again back in action kicking some Titan butt!
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed this little chit chat with me! I really can’t wait to see what “Attack on Titan” has in store with us, and how many times it really does rip my heart out and tear it (the emotions… all the feelings). If you have any suggestions of animes (or even mangas) to watch while waiting for a new episode to air (I don’t like the waiting game, I love just binge-watching all the episodes) let me know in the comments below! I would love to watch another great anime! I hope you have a wonderful evening and I will see you all in the next post!
