Happy Sunday and welcome to Day 4 of my 12 days of Blogmas! When it comes to Christmas, people associate it (as well as other things) with buying and receiving gifts. Just yesterday I shared what was on my Christmas Wish List. But for today’s post, I wanted to turn the tables and talk about ways to give back.
Recently my job had a box in front of where we hand out drinks a little box where people could donate things to a Children’s Emergency Shelter. Every year we do something along these lines but I have never donated anything. But for some reason this year, it could have been because I was making a little more money and had a bigger budget or it was for a cause that I cared for, I felt the want to donate. So I went to Target and got a bunch of lotions, deodorant, shampoo, and conditioners and dropped it in the box the next day. Now I am not telling you this because I want you to think that I am such a good person for donating. I didn’t do much, all I did was buy a few items and drop them in a box. The reason why I am telling you this is because I want to share with you the good feeling I got after donating. Christmas for some can be stressful because of the holiday shopping and it can make the meaning of Christmas seem lost. But by doing something like giving back, no matter if it is big or small, can give you the feeling and remind you of the what Christmas really is supposed to be. The meaning of Christmas is different to everyone, but to me, Christmas is about joy, and by giving back this year gave me a sense of joy. That all being said, here are some ways if you would like to give back this Holiday season.
From volunteering at a local animal shelter to reading stories to children in hospitals, there are lots of ways to volunteer around the community.
Collect Cans of Food and Donate them to a Food Bank
Donate Old Coats to Goodwill, The Salvation Army or a Homeless Shelter
Pay Ahead at Starbucks
Buying the next person in line’s coffee could make someone’s day.
Bake Some Holiday Cookies
Baking is always fun especially when it’s for a good cause. Share them with your neighbors to make their holidays more delightful or even share them with a Nursing Home.
Bring a Box of Toys to Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots is a great program that is held every year during the holidays and is for a good cause. Check out their website to see where your local Toys for Tots is located.
Bring Treats to Share with Your Coworkers
Show your coworkers you appreciate them by bringing them baked treats. Everyone loves treats!
Bring Blankets, Food, and Toys to an Animal Shelter
Donate Money to the Causes You Support
If you are really passionate about a cause research where you can donate and help a good cause.
Smile at Everyone You Meet
I know it’s not much but a smile could really make someone’s day better.
So that is all I have for you today! I hope you enjoyed this just as much as I did putting it together! Can you guys believe we are already 4 days into Blogmas?!
