Ulta and Sephora Haul // First Impressions!

Happy Tuesday and welcome to another blog post! I recently went to both Ulta and Sephora to pick up some products I was running low on and ended up finding new stuff to try so I thought I would do my first Haul of the new year! It’s been about a week since I’ve gotten these items (was planning on having the post done and up earlier but had some technical difficulties) so I’ve been able to develop some thoughts and first impressions on the new items! That being said, let’s jump right into it! Here is my Ulta and Sephora Haul with some First Impressions!

Let’s start with Ulta since that was the first place I went to!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater

I was first introduced to this product and this brand through my friend Taylor (she has a blog called lifestylewkly… you should check her out cause she’s awesome) and after her telling me how much she loved it, I knew had to try it. According to Ulta’s website, this face spray is a refreshing, hydrating mist to use anywhere anytime. It is supposed to be pleasant, pick me up for the dehydrated, tight and uncomfortable skin. You can use it as a pick me up or to set makeup as well as spray it on dry hair. I personally use it after I wash my face as an extra moisturizer (I have normal to dry skin) or as a quick wake me up. It doesn’t spray evenly like setting sprays to do but other than that I don’t really have any complaints. I haven’t noticed a difference in my skin but it doesn’t irritate my skin which is important for me because I don’t want to be using a product that makes my skin worse when I’m really trying to work on my skin care. All and all I do like this product, but it’s only a first impression, so I don’t have too many opinions. Thanks Taylor for recommending this product to me!

Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser

Since I was already looking at the brand for the rosewater spray I wanted to see what else Mario Badescu Skincare had to offer. I wasn’t liking the results of my old skin care products so I thought that I would try something new. This year I really want to be on top of taking care of my skin and get rid of the acne scars I have so I was leaning on finding something that would help with that as well as keeping my skin clean. This Glycolic Foaming Cleanser can be used 2-3 times a week, depending on how dry your skin gets and is designed to dissolve dulling dead skin cells to help refine pores and retexturize uneven skin. I’ve only used it only a couple of times (I try to use it at least twice a week) but I like the smell and it does leave my face feeling soft.

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

Since the Foaming Cleanser can only be used up to three times a week I still wanted a cleanser that I could use daily so I found this Enzyme Cleansing Gel that I could use daily. This cleanser washes away makeup and surface debris, leaving skin clean and refreshed. This non-foaming cleanser gently exfoliates the buildup of dead skin cells that can block pores and cause blemishes. In the few days that I’ve used it I’ve noticed that the blemishes I have are starting to go down as well as my face feeling more clean, refreshed and smooth.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer

Back during my 12 Days of Blogmas I talked about how Tarte’s Shape Tape was on my Christmas wish list, and finally wanted to see what the hype is all about. Tape shape is a full coverage concealer that is supposed to be hydrating, long-wearing and delivers natural, radiant coverage. After trying this product I can finally understand what the hype is all about. I have major under eye bags because I have issues sleeping and a weird work schedule so the fact that I can build on this concealer without worrying about it looking cakey or cracking later in the day makes me a happy customer. This concealer has really changed the game for me and I know I will repurchase this many many times.

Real Technique Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges

With the purchase of Shape Tape I needed to find something to blend the concealer in, I remembered a bunch of Youtubers saying to use a beauty blender so I went for small beauty blenders from Real Technique. I use one to buff the concealer in and the other for another product I’m going to talk about later. I already like Real Technique so I knew that this would do its job well and I wasn’t disappointed.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

The next product is Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Now you’re probably thinking if I don’t use eyeshadow a lot why buy an eyeshadow primer? Well… I have a project coming soon that I need this for, so stay tuned for that!

Morphe Brushes

As you know, I am a fan of Morphe and I have seen some of my favorite YouTubers use their eyeshadows and their brushes but what I didn’t know is that Ulta has Morphe products! So I thought I would try some. The first is a couple of brushes that I thought I would try. The brushes include:
Morphe M432 (Flat Liner Definer Brush)
Morphe M433 (Pro Firm Blending Fluff Brush)
Morphe M167 (Oval Shadow Blush)
Morphe M441 (Pro Firm Blending Crease Brush)
Morphe M510 (Pro Round Blender Brush)

I have used these as well as my favorite bh Cosmetics brush and though I don’t know how to use them perfectly now, they have become stable brushes in my brush collection. I’m hoping for my project next month I will get better at using these brushes.

Morphe 9A Always Golden Eyeshadow Palette

Now the last item I got at Ulta is one I didn’t think I would be leaving with but what I am the most excited for. And that is the Ulta Exclusive Morphe 9A Always Golden Eyeshadow Palette. I fell in love with this palette at first glance with its beautiful neutral colors. These 9 shades are creamy, pigmented and blendable eyeshadow colors and after using them I can agree with all of those statements. A little goes a long way and even without eyeshadow primer, the color doesn’t crack or fade after a long day. Plus with the palette only being $12.00, I couldn’t say no to it. I can’t wait to see what makeup looks I can create with this everyday palette.

And now it is time to show you what I got at Sephora!

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

We all know for now that this is my current favorite foundation. And after 4 months I was desperately needing to repurchase another foundation. I love the coverage this foundation and how matte and flawless it makes my skin look.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color

While over at the Fenty Beauty section I was curious to see what else was out and was attracted to this beautiful red color as well as intrigued by the applicator wand of this product. The Stunna Lip Paint is a weightless, 12-hour liquid lipstick with a soft matte finish. I tried it when I got home from Sephora and it felt nice on my lips but I haven’t been able to wear it for a long period of time, so I’m going to have to get back to you on my review.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

So with the purchase of Shape Tape at Ulta, I decided that I needed a setting powder and I have always been interested in this product due to a beauty Youtuber I watch I finally had a reason to purchase it. According to Sephora’s website, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder locks in makeup for long-lasting wear, without weight or texture. I have been using it every time I use Shape Tape and I can say that everything the website claims it does shows through. I use the other mini beauty blender to apply it and know that my concealer will stay matte and smooth all day.

Kat Von D Saint Eau De Parfum

Saint is my go-to perfume currently and I have been through so many of the little travel perfumes. So when Melissa and I were at Sephora (she’s always telling me I should just suck it up and buy the bigger bottle that is $52.00) I was originally going to go with another travel size (it’s $22.00) at the same time she was looking at a new foundation that was about the same price as the perfume and I made the joke to her that if she ended up buying the expensive foundation I would buy the bigger size. So she went to get her match for the foundation as I continued to look at other things. A few minutes later believe it or not Melissa came up to me with her match in her basket and I walked back over to grab the bigger bottle.

Sephora Collection Dry Clean Instant Dry Brush Cleaner Spray

The last product deals with the project I am going to be starting next month and that is the Sephora Collection Dry Clean Instant Dry Brush Cleaner Spray. This Dry Brush cleaner spray is supposed to be like dry shampoo for your brushes that instantly cleans without rinsing and dries on the spot for immediate re-use of brushes. I have used this product and though I can see some makeup come off the brush, it doesn’t dry instantly like a normal dry shampoo for hair. It also has a weird smell that I don’t hate but it’s not my favorite that I can’t put my finger on what it smells like. It’s only my first impression and I feel like I will have more of a review after my project next month.

So that’s my full haul from Ulta and Sephora! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did putting it together! What products have you recently bought this year? Any new products I should check out? Let me know in the comments below as well as ideas for a new blog post, makeup or non-makeup I am always up to new ideas! 1. I’ve been seeing that Mario Badescu rose water spray on all sorts of blogs. People seem to love it. I haven’t had the chance to try it yet, but I already use Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner, which also has aloe and rose water in it, so that’s why I haven’t tried that spray.

I’ve recently tried the Glycolic cleanser (as well as the toner), and I like them. My face always feels clean, and there’s a slight tingling that comes with it.

The enzyme cleansing gel I’ve been using for just over a year now. I find that it doesn’t remove makeup residue that well, so I tend to use it after waking up, since I had already washed off my makeup the night before. I like the smell of it.

  2. Love this blog post! I am so intimidated about using and trying new products. I want some of the facial rosewater spray, looks amazing. Also the brushes and the brush cleaner…I didn’t know they even made such a thing. I just threw out my old brush and got a new one cause it was a pain to clean. Thanks for the great review of products!

  3. I love this blog post! I am so intimidated by trying new products. I am going to try the rosewater spray! I have acne scars too, so curious as to how the glycolic cleaner works for you. Hope you post an update! Also, I had no idea they made a cleaner for your brushes! I just threw out my brush because it was such a pain to clean. Thanks for the great reviews!

  4. I am always nervous about new products because I am always scared that I’m wasting my money if I don’t like it but at the same time it’s exciting to try something new when I end up really loving the makeup! Also, I’ve been trying to get in the habit of cleaning my brushes once a week or every 2 weeks but sometimes it’s hard so I feel you there! Thank you for checking it out!

  5. Other than the fact that it doesn’t spray the best I really do like the rosewater spray, especially after I get done washing my face. I don’t like using it as a setting spray though because it doesn’t evenly spray in my opinion and I don’t want to ruin my makeup.

So far I have been liking the Cleanser and gel but I haven’t gotten into toner because I don’t understand it. I would love to know what toners you would recommend!
