Books I’m Excited to Read in 2018!

Happy Sunday/Monday and welcome to another blog post! This year I decided that I wanted to get back into reading more so I thought that today I would share with you some of the books I am excited to read this year! I always used to have a book in hand and spent most of my free time reading but with my schedule these past couples of years, I haven’t been able to sit down and enjoy a book. But this year I’ve made an effort to take myself out of my busy schedule and a least read for 15 minutes a day (sometimes longer if I’m getting to a good part). Not only does it let me get some reading in but it also lets me step away from my work and enjoy myself a little. That being said, let’s just get right into it, here are Books I’m Excited to Read in 2018!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Reading a little every day helped because a month into the new year I have finished a book! This book is called A Court of Thorn and Roses. This book is about a girl named Feyre who’s hunt for survival changes her world when she kills a faerie, dragged to a magical kingdom and faces an ancient curse that could take away her new world forever. I actually came across this series because I was looking for some inspiration on Pinterest for a project that I am working outside of blogging and stickers and I kept on running into posts about this book series. So I caved and bought the book and ended up loving it. If you love fantasy, fairies, adventure, and romance you will enjoy this book.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Mass

So of course since I loved the first book I am currently reading the second book in the series. I won’t give you a little bit of the plot of the book in case you want to get into this series but I will say that compared to the first book this is taking a lot longer to read. Not because I’m not enjoying the book (I actually like it more than the first one) but because it is thicker. A Court of Thorns and Roses is a little over 300 pages and A Court of Mist and Fury is a little over 650 pages. That being said I am about halfway through the book and I and enjoying it so much. Without giving any spoilers I will say that in the first book something very traumatizing for Feyre happened. I’ve noticed with series that puts the main character through something traumatizing that in the book after it’s like it never happened. Yes, the series may talk about it once, but that’s it. Like it doesn’t affect the character in any way except for that it happened. With this series that isn’t the case. You see throughout how Feyre deals with what happens and how it has changed her life and I love that because it shows how human she is what she is going through with everything.

*Update: As I am finishing this blog post, I actually was able to finish the book! I loved the book, everything I said about the book when I was halfway through the book remains the same for when I finished the book. I already picked up the third book in the series, and I can’t wait to get into it.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass

While buying the other books I was looking at other books by Sarah J. Mass and I came across another series by her and was interested so I got the first book. Throne of Glass is about an assassin named Celaena who is trying to fight for her freedom. But when an evil in the castle, her fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival as she tries to find out the root of the evil before it destroys her world. Throne of Glass is the first book in a series, so I can’t wait to get thrown into Celaena’s world and see what happens.

All That She Can See by Carrie Hope Fletcher

If you have read my Favorite Youtubers post you know that some of my favorite YouTubers are also authors, and I finally got a hold of some of their books! The first is All That She Can See by Carrie Hope Fletcher. This book is about a girl named Cherry who has a special gift. She can see things other people can’t, and she has decided to use this gift to help people. But when a new person comes around and threatens to undo all the good Cherry has done, it turns out that she’s not the only one who can see what she sees. This is the first book I’m reading by Carrie, so I can’t wait to read her writing style!

Some Kind of Wonderful by Giovanna Fletcher

The second book from a Youtuber that I was able to get my hands on is Giovanna Fletcher’s newest book Some Kind of Wonderful. This book is about a girl named Lizzy who is been dating the same guy for almost a decade and is ready to take the next step in their relationship. But when he reveals he’s not sure he wants her anymore, a heartbroken Lizzy realizes this is her chance to seize the opportunities she missed, find out who she is as a person and have a little fun. Out of all Giovanna’s books, I was most interested in this book, so I can’t wait to dive into this and see what happens.

Feel Good 101 by Emma Blackery

Out of the three books, I was able to get my hands on, I was most excited about this book by Emma Blackery. As you already know in my Favorite Youtubers blog post, I have been following Emma Blackery on Youtube for as long as I can remember. I’ve seen her through all of her phases of channel changes, and have seen her grow as a person. So when I found out she was writing a book, I was so excited to get my hands on it. Feel Good 101 is about Emma opening up about life and the struggles she has been through and how she has grown. I know I’m just a fan, but I am so proud of the woman she has become and what else she can accomplish.

You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

The last book on my list was a Christmas gift given to me by my sister. She read it and she says that this book was different than any other self-help book. She enjoyed it because it is more than just an advice book. The author tells stories and gives easy to do exercises to help you achieve the goals. Everyone thinks they could use some self-help no matter how big they may need it and this book makes getting self-help easy and enjoyable.

Conclusion

So that’s all the books on my list… for now! I can tell you now already that this list is not going to stop growing because I don’t want to stop reading! I hope to keep you updated on this list and tell you what books I have enjoyed this year in case you are looking for a book to read! As always, I hope you enjoyed this blog post as much as I did putting it together! What books are you wanting to read? Are there any books that should be on my list? Let me know in the comments below as well as ideas for a new blog post. I am always up for new blog post ideas! I hope you are all having a great weekend, and I will see you in the next blog post!
