Blogmas Day 1: Christmas Tag!

Happy Thursday and welcome to the start of my 12 days of Blogmas! During these 12 days, I’m going to be getting into the Christmas spirit leading up to Christmas Day! To kick this all off I wanted to do a “Christmas Tag” answering all questions Christmas! That being said, let’s get right into it! Here is my version of the “Christmas Tag!”.

1. Do you get into the holiday spirit early or closer to Christmas?

As you know, especially if you have been following me for a while, I love Halloween. When Halloween ends each year, people already are putting their Halloween decorations away and putting up their Christmas trees. Some wait until the day after Thanksgiving to get into the holiday spirit. But after Halloween ends, I go through Halloween withdrawal until December 1st. So I would say that I get into the holiday spirit closer to Christmas.

2. Favorite Christmas Movie?

Wait until tomorrow to get a full list of my favorite Christmas Movies but I’ll give you a sneak peak! One of my favorite Christmas movies would have to be “A Year Without A Santa Claus!”

3. Favorite Christmas Song?

I don’t like Christmas music. I’ve worked in retail most of my life and if I have to hear one more version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, or any other Christmas song made by a different artist I may just scream. But when I listen to the ever so popular “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Moriah Carey I have a lot of nostalgic feels because I remember when I was little I loved to dance around the house with my sisters to this song. So I guess I am ok with that song, even though it is very over played over the years.

4. Naughty or Nice List?

Nice of course, unless you count when I’m being sassy. Tehe.

5. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait til last minute?

I normally start mine way late into the game but since I knew ahead of time that I was going to be doing Blogmas this year I wanted to get my Christmas shopping done ahead of time. So I started even before Black Friday!

6. What recipe do you look forwards to each year?

Every year during both Thanksgiving and Christmas my mom makes a green bean casserole that I absolutely love. She adds tater-tots to it which is the perfect touch! I wish she would make it year round but it makes me look forwards to it each year.

7. Are you a pro-present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

You will see in a blog post coming soon how much I fail at gift wrapping… so look forward to that!

8. Favorite Starbucks Holiday Drink?

So of course since I am a barista, I had to put this question in my Christmas Tag, but of course I am going to choose the Chestnut Praline Latte. If you haven’t tried it yet and if you like more of a nutty flavor you will love it. I get it everyday when I’m at work and even when I’m not at work cause I need to be awake with juggling my Etsy shop and blogging.

9. Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Since I live in Iowa I can say yes that I have had a white Christmas. As a kid it was awesome having a white Christmas but as an a adult who works in retail who has to drive to work on Christmas, sometimes it’s nice not having a white Christmas.

10. What makes the holidays special for you?

Since my sisters and I are all adults and we all have moved out of my parents place we don’t get to see each other as much so getting all three of us Stark girls together is always a good time. My sisters are my best friends and I wish I could see them everyday, but since we all have our busy lives to live it’s nice to finally get a few hours with them.

Another thing that makes these past two holidays special to me is being able to spend it with you guys! Last year I did Doodlemas and this year with Blogmas I get to create content for you guys more than just my usual posts.

Conclusion

So that’s all my questions! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did putting it together! How is your holiday season going so far? Are you all getting into the full Christmas spirit now that we are inching closer and closer to Christmas? What Christmas activities are you doing this year? Let me know in the comments below as well as ideas for blog posts, Christmas and non Christmas you all know I am always up to new ideas! I hope you have a wonderful day and I can’t wait to share with you my festive blog posts! Until tomorrow, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

Stay Merry!
XOXO,
Kat

Autumn Makeup Tutorial// Profusion Beauty Treasure Box Thoughts!

Happy Sunday/Monday and welcome to another blog post! Halloween is sadly over and even though some people are moving right into Winter and Christmas, I am still holding on to Autumn. I love the Morphe 3502 palette, the colors just scream Autumn with the beautiful browns oranges and reds. I would buy this palette right away but I am such a beginner when it comes to eye makeup other than eyeliner. I have big eyes and I also wear big glasses so I feel like a lot of attention goes straight to my eyes. If I would use color on my eyes and it wasn’t blended enough or it just straight up looks bad, I feel like the mistakes would be more noticeable. That being said I don’t want to waste the beautiful palette colors on my beginners’ skills. I told myself that once I get really good at eye makeup and started to wear more eyeshadow I would get the Morphe 3502 palette but until then I would get a cheaper one until my skills are better.

Recently my mom and I were at Target and with the holidays coming Target was selling a brand called Profusion cosmetics. There was a range of different products to choose from highlight and contour palettes to lip kits all at a really good price. The one that caught my eye out of all of them was the Beauty Treasure Box. According to the Profusion website, the Beauty Treasure box is a deluxe beauty box that includes ultra-blendable eyeshadows, blush, contour and highlight shades to enhance and define your features. The pigments are supposed to sit comfortably on the skin while giving you a natural finish. The Beauty Treasure Box a 40 piece makeup kit with 35 eyeshadow colors, 1 highlighter, 2 blush shades, 1 contour shade, a black eyeliner pencil and a Pro Series brush. If I am honest, the reason why I was so drawn to this palette is that it reminds me of the Morphe 3502. The palette at Target was retailed for $12.99 while the Morphe 3502 is $23.00 so even though the Morphe palette is still pretty affordable, the Profusion is a great first palette for beginners.

After all, that being said I originally thought that I was just going to go on here and do a review over the palette but why would I go through the reason for getting this palette and not do an Autumn makeup tutorial since I’m still not over Autumn and then my thoughts at the end! This is my first makeup tutorial on top of being a beginner at eye makeup so please please please be kind to me if the eyeshadows aren’t blended in as well as they could have been. Right as I was going to take photos of this tutorial, my camera battery died so these photos are taken from my phone since I already showered and did my hair. So finally after this long introduction, I bring to you my Autumn Makeup Look using the Profusion Beauty Treasure Box!

Hello my naked face! My hair is already styled and I already primed it with the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer that I forgot to take a photo of. Can you tell this is my first time because I don’t know what I am doing, but I am ready to start this tutorial!

Step 1: Foundation

The first step is to clip these crazy bangs back and then I am using my favorite foundation right now which is the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 190 with the Fenty Beauty Full-Bodied Foundation Brush 110 that I didn’t get a picture of.

Step 2: Concealer

I normally don’t use concealer but today my eye bags were crazy so I used my NYX concealer under my eyes.

Step 3: Contour

Getting into the Profusion Beauty Treasure Box I am going into the Contour color that is called Shade Contour and contouring my cheekbones, temples (I don’t know why with my bangs) and under my chin.

Step 4: Eyebrows Part 1

Then since I am moving everywhere with my makeup (I always do my makeup out of a normal order) I am starting my brows. For the arch and the tail of my brow, I am using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Soft Brown and a small angled brush.

Step 5: Eyebrows Part 2

And now that my brows look weird without the start of the brows filled in I am finishing them off with the Benefit Goof Proof Pencil in Shade 3.

Now it is time to get into the Eyeshadows!

Step 6: Eyeshadow Part 1

I am using three colors. The first color is called Rust which is a dark matte red-orange color and I am putting that on the outer corner of the lid as well as blending it into the crease.

Step 7: Eyeshadow Part 2

For the second color, I am using Adventurous which is a warm matte tan color and putting that on my inner lid.

Step 8: Eyeshadow Part 3

For the third color, I am using Pharaoh which is this beautiful shimmery gold color and putting that on the middle of my lid.

Step 9: Eyeliner

Once all three colors are on, I am lining my eye with my favorite liquid eyeliner the NYX Epic Ink Liner in Black and adding a wing at the end.

Step 10: Tightlining

Next Tightline the top water line using the Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof in Black Lace. Can you tell how excited I am to tightline my eyes?

Step 11: Bottom Eyeliner

To eyeline my bottom waterline I am using the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Cashmere which is a shimmery champagne color.

Step 12: Mascara

The final step for eyes is to use mascara. Since I have such a crazy obsession with mascara I am using 2 coats of my 2 favorite mascaras, Benefit’s Roller Lash Curling and Lifting Mascara and Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara.

Step 13: Blush

For blush, I went back into the Beauty Treasure box and used the shade Playful out of the two blush options and applied that to my cheeks. I chose the color Playful because I was in love with more deeper coral color than the bright pink.

Step 14: Highlight

I know there is a highlighter in the Treasure box but I really wanted to use my favorite highlighter for this look. That highlighter is of course Peach from the Opal Highlighting palette from Limecrime. I use this highlighter every day which you can tell because I am hitting pan with just this one color. If you are curious about this palette I did a review on this palette a while back, I will link it at the end of this post.

Step 15: Lips

To finish off this Autumn makeup look I am going in with my favorite Fall Lipstick from Limecrime and that is in the shade Bloodmoon. Bloodmoon is the deepest blood red in the Velvetine line and it the perfect dark shade for Autumn!

Finished Look!

After putting your lips on, unclip those crazy bangs and the look is complete!

Now that the Autumn look is complete, I did wear this makeup look for the rest of the day so I do have some thoughts on the products that came from the Profusion Beauty Treasure Box.

Small Pods

Before even talking about the wear of the makeup let’s talk about the package itself. Now I know in this particular palette you are getting 40 pieces of product but I wish in this palette and I noticed in the other palettes that the pods were smaller. This just could be my personal opinion, but I wish they were bigger so you can get more product!

Plastic Cover

Some makeup brands instead of just a clear sheet have plastic covers to cover the makeup so it doesn’t break in the package but two things about this plastic cover annoyed me. First of all, while opening the package it was taped on the sides so in the process of getting it off I accidentally stabbed one of the eyeshadow colors leaving a dent in it. The second thing that annoyed me is that I would normally throw the plastic cover away after removing it but the names of each shade are on the plastic cover so I have to keep it if I want to know the names of the colors.

The Brush Inside

I didn’t use the eyeliner pencil in the kit but I did use the brush to put on the middle color on my lid. I also used the brush to blend in the colors. My verdict on the brush is that I liked it! It picked up a lot of colors as well as blended them as well nicely.

The Formula and Wear

And now it is finally time to talk about the formula and the wear. I am happy to say that the colors and the contour color are pigmented but also very blendable. It didn’t irritate my skin at all for the rest of the day but by the end of the day the pigment lost its color and you can start to see creases in the color. So sadly it isn’t a long-lasting wear but if you are only wearing it for a few hours it is perfect.

Is it Worth it?

So my final verdict of the Profusion Beauty Treasure Box? I would say that is perfect for beginners. The colors are very pigmented but also blendable which makes it easy to practice and sharpens your skill. Though I am sad about some of the packaging and how it isn’t for a long-lasting wear, the palette was only $12.99 so I can’t argue with that.

Conclusion

So that’s it! Wow, that was a long one! I hope you enjoyed this blog post. I’m trying to open myself up to more blog post opportunities to be more creative and now that I’ve done one, I’m excited to try more in the future! Let me know in the comments below what you think as well as other blog posts ideas, I am always up for new ideas! Until then I hope you are enjoying what is left of Autumn unless you are already getting ready for winter and Christmas and I will see you in the next post!

XOXO,
Kat

10 Ways to Be and Stay Creative!

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday and welcome to another blog post! A few nights ago I was having a creative pow wow with my friend. We were talking about stories we both have written and projects we both are working and on. He was talking about how he doesn’t understand why I am so creative with me a graphic designer and writing blogs. He has his few projects he works on but other than that he doesn’t do much that is creative. After that creative pow wow I got to thinking about ways I keep creative so I thought I would share those with you today! These are helpful for whether you are wanting to be more creative in life or you are struggling with staying creative. Here are 10 ways to Be and Stay Creative!

1. Do Something Everyday!

From writing a little to doodling everyday, doing something small daily helps keep the mind stay creative while giving you inspiration daily. I know last year when I did Doodlemas kept me stay creative all the month of December. Even if you are just looking for inspiration on Pinterest that still counts because you are finding inspiration for a future project.

2. Keep an Idea Journal with you!

Whether it’s on pen and paper or it’s an app on your phone, when inspiration strikes, record it right away when the idea is fresh.

3. Make Lists!

Lists are an easy way to get ideas down quickly. Once you start, you sometimes just can’t stop! I use lists all the time, from grocery lists to organizing posts and projects.

4. Break the Norm!

Doing things the same over and over again can really dull the mind and keep you from being creative. Change things up and do things a little differently every once in awhile to make sure you don’t get into that mind dull. I like to change my blog background or the type of posts I am posting.

5. Move Around!

I spend most of my work time at a desk in my office so every so often I need to get out of the room and walk around whether it’s just around the house or running a quick errand. Plus if you are stuck on something, moving around clears your mind and you come back with a fresh mind.

6. Try Something New!

It is always ok to experiment. Try something new with your project. Listen to you gut and go for what you haven’t done before! If you don’t like it you can always adjust it later.

7. Surround Yourself With Creative People!

Being around other creative people is helpful because you can bounce off of each other with inspiration. Having creative pow wow with friends is always fun because you can spend hours being creative while hanging out with your favorite people!

8. Check out the Competition!

Not all competition is bad. Seeing what the competition is up to keeps you on your competitive edge and you might find something that inspires you while doing it!

9. Create a Vision Board!

Just like making lists, vision boards help you see inspiration and creative ideas all on one board. It also helps you stay organized as well.

10. Ask “What If?”!

Allow yourself to imagine and think freely about ideas that come to you. Focus on removing the barriers and consider how everything would turn out if you thought of something differently.

Conclusion

So that’s my 10 Ways to Be and Stay Creative! I hope these tips help you stay creative in any way and that you are inspired to stay creative! What do you do to stay creative? Let me know in the comments below as well as other ideas for blog posts! I am always up to new ideas! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week and I will see you in the next blog post!

DIY Skull Terrarium

Happy week of Halloween and welcome to another blog post! I hope you are enjoying this week of blog posts, I know I am! This time around I thought I would show you a cute DIY perfect for Halloween! Terrariums have made a comeback in the last couple of years and with Halloween around the corner, I thought it would be awesome to create a Skull Terrarium for you all! It’s really easy to do and fun to be able to create and design it yourself. So let’s just get right into it, here is my DIY Skull Terrarium!

What You Will Need:

I got all of my supplies at Michaels. If you read my Halloween Decor Haul you know that when I went to Michaels all of their Halloween stuff was on clearance to make room for Christmas stuff so I got all of the supplies (minus one item that wasn’t technically Halloween but still at a good price) for a really good price!

Skull Containers

Moss

Make sure you get a different variety of moss to add more color and texture to the skulls.

Small Halloween Accessories

I love these pieces! When I was at Michaels I originally was gonna find something else to use the skull containers but once I saw these pieces I was instantly inspired to do this DIY!

Succulents

I found big ones and small ones but ended up only using the smaller ones.

Now that you have all of your supplies, let’s make some Skull Terrariums!

Step 1:

Cut the flat moss in strips and then in halves to make squares and so on depending on how small you think they need to be.
Note: The moss is pretty messy when you cut it, so cut it over a trash bag, newspaper whatever so it doesn’t get all over your workspace.

Step 2:

Layer the flat moss on the bottom of the skull to give it a thick base.
Note: It is ok that the flat moss pieces don’t fully cover the bottom (the skull isn’t a square shape) we will be filling it with other moss later.)

Step 3:

Add your main piece. For this first one, I was going more for a graveyard so I wanted the “Will Not Rest In Peace” be the main piece.

Step 4:

Add more moss to fill in holes, protect the pieces and to add more color.

I also added another graveyard stone to the other side to complete my Skull graveyard!

The Other Skull

I also made another skull terrarium for my friend. I followed the same exact steps but instead, I added a rose skull and the small succulents. She loved it when I gave it to her!

Conclusion

So that’s it! It was so easy to make and so fun to do! I hope you enjoyed this blog post as much as I enjoyed making it! We are so close to the big day but I still got a few more blog posts for you guys that I can’t wait to share with you! Let me know some other DIY projects I can do on here as well as other blog post ideas in the comments below, I am always open to new blog ideas! Until tomorrow, have a wonderful day and I will see you in the next blog post!

Anime to Watch During Halloween

Happy week of Halloween and welcome to another blog post! We are halfway through the Halloween posts and I realized that I haven’t done an anime post yet for this Halloween week! So I thought it would be about time I added one in for my fellow weebs and nerds out there! Halloween brings a lot of fun times from haunted houses to Halloween parties, but sometimes it’s just a good idea to stay home all bundled up and watch some good anime. In the beginning of the week I talked about Halloween movies to watch and just in case you are more in the anime mood instead of a Halloween movie (or you have watched them all already and need something new to watch) I thought I would share some anime shows to watch this Halloween Season! So let’s get into it, here are some anime to watch during Halloween!

Tokyo Ghoul

The first show to watch during Halloween is Tokyo Ghoul. Tokyo Ghoul is about a boy named Kaneki whose normal life is completely changed when he is changed to a ghoul and has to live in the world as a half ghoul-half human. This show is great for Halloween because it has that creepy-fantasy side but also a slice of life side to the anime with the struggle between humans and ghouls trying to exist in the same world.

Highschool of the Dead

Speaking of a mix of creepy-fantasy and slice of life, the next anime to watch during Halloween is Highschool of the Dead. Highschool of the Dead is set in modern day Japan where the world is suddenly by a deadly pandemic where humans are turning into zombies and a group of high schoolers have to try to survive this zombie apocalypse. If you read my Anime Tag blog post you know that I have mixed feelings towards this show. Though I think it is a good show and perfect for Halloween, I also think that this show tries to fanservice a little too much with sexualizing the female characters.

Death Parade

The next is an anime I have been interested in for a while and recently watched earlier this year and that is Death Parade. Death Parade is about a place called Quindecim where humans after death are challenged to a game and ultimately get judged by arbiters to see who goes gets reincarnated or thrown into the void. The main character Decim, an arbiter, starts questioning the true meaning of being an arbiter after meeting a strange black haired girl who enters Quindecim. The reason why it took me so long to finally watch this show because all I’ve heard is on how sad and depressing this show is. Which the show is about death, so I can see how it is sad, but I am so glad I watched it! Though it had some really sad moments and I did emotionally break down after watching a certain episode the show is so well done. So if you are in the mood to get all the feels, Death Parade is the way to go!

Attack on Titan

This is the part of the blog post where you just knew either Sailor Moon or Attack on Titan would pop up sometime, and this time it is Attack on Titan’s turn! Anytime I can recommend an anime, I always recommend Attack on Titan because I love it so much, especially season 2. So of course with Halloween, who wouldn’t want to watch the struggle for the existence of mankind against Titans… that just screams Halloween! Quick little update, I haven’t been able to watch the Attack on Titan Junior High or Attack on Titan No Regrets yet but I have gotten some new Attack on Titan books that I’ve started to dive in and will let you know how I feel about those!

Vampire Knight

The next anime is a favorite from my early anime watching days and that is Vampire Night. Vampire Knight is about a girl named Yuki Cross who attends Cross Academy where there is a “Day Class” aka the human class and the “Night Class” vampire class and it is her job as well as her mysterious (but handsome) friend Zero Kiryu to protect them. Along the way Yuki find out that Zero has been struggling to fight his transformation into a vampire and tries to help him live as a vampire while recovering her own lost memories of the past. This show is great for Halloween because who doesn’t love a love triangle without the sparkles? (haha get it, cause of Twilight.. Ha ok I thought I was punny.)

Chibi Vampire Karin

So I honestly forgot all about this anime until I was starting this blog post. This next anime is called Chibi Vampire Karin. Chibi Vampire Karin is about a vampire named Karin who is unlike the rest of her vampire family. Karin doesn’t feed on blood but instead produces it. Since she produces it instead of feed on it she is forced to bite others to expel the extra blood or she has major nosebleeds. Other than that Karin lives a normal highschool life when a new transfer student Kenta comes and learns her secret. The show then revolves around Kenta trying to live a “normal life” as trouble starts happening around them as well as feelings for each other. This anime is just so much fun to watch! It has the vampire blood side of the show but also the funny moments like when Karin has her crazy nose bleeds and cute moments between Karin and Kenta. Ah writing this makes me want to rewatch this series again!

Ouran Highschool Host Club Halloween Episode

Now this anime has nothing to do with fantasy or Halloween but the series does have a Halloween episode that I could not put in this post. If you don’t know Ouran Highschool Host Club is about a girl named Haruhi who is stuck in a Host club because on her first day she accidently knocks over an expensive vase and is told to repay it through becoming the Host Club’s errand boy. The host club decides to run a Halloween event in which teams try to scare each other. I love this episode because you just get to see the host club just be so pure especially around Haruhi. If you haven’t seen Ouran High School you should at least watch this episode if you love Halloween and a little slice of life.

Conclusion

And that’s all the animes! I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post as much as I did putting it all together. Like I said before we are halfway through these posts so that means we are almost to Halloween! Do you guys have any plans for Halloween? Are you trick or treating this year? Let me know these answers plus other ideas for blog posts in the comments below. I am always up to new ideas for blog posts! Until tomorrow, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and I will see you in the next blog post!

Halloween Goodie Bags 2017

Happy week of Halloween and welcome to another blog post! This year I thought I would make a little treat for my coworkers and friends but since I am not the greatest at baking I thought I would instead make little goodie bags. This way I can show my coworkers how much I appreciate them as well as celebrate my favorite holiday! Other than the candy (which was only $7-$8 a bag) these items either ranged from $1.00-$3.00 so it was very easy getting a wide range of things for a really good price! Since it was so easy putting these together I plan on doing this again next year and it could be a little Halloween tradition! So that all being said, here is my Halloween Goodie Bags for 2017!

Also just in case you were wondering, I got everything at either Target or Michaels Craft Store!

The Candy

The Goodie Bags

I wanted ones with bats, but since they didn’t have any I found these cute skeleton and spider ones instead!

Pencils

Erasers

Bouncy Balls

Bubbles

Eye Rings

Mini Notebook

Conclusion

So that’s everything that went into my goodie bags! I hope you enjoyed this blog post as much as I enjoyed putting it together! Do you have any Halloween traditions? Let me know in the comments below as well as any other ideas for blog posts. I’m always up to new blog posts! I hope this Halloween week is treating you well and I will see you tomorrow!

My Favorite Halloween Movies!

Happy week of Halloween and welcome to another blog post! This is the first blog post of this week of Halloween related blog posts leading up to the 31st! One of the traditions I love during the Halloween season is getting together with loved ones and having a Halloween movie marathon with hot chocolate and treats. So I thought I would share with you some of my favorite Halloween themed/Halloween vibes movies! Before I get into the post I do have to confess something to you… even though I love and live for Halloween 365 days a year I hate horror films. I am such a scaredy Kat (haha see what I did there) when it comes to horror films, I’ve never seen one in theaters and during sleepovers I’m always the one with a blanket over my head. So as much as I would like there to be don’t expect any horror films to make the list. That being said let’s get into it! Here are some of my favorite Halloween Movies!

Hocus Pocus (1993)

The first movie is of course Hocus Pocus. Hocus Pocus is about three witch sisters who are resurrected in modern day Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl and an immortal cat to stop them. I love this movie so much because it is just a classic and the characters are so funny.

Halloweentown Series (1998-2006)

The second is the first of two series on this list and that is Halloweentown. Halloweentown revolves around a girl named Marnie who finds out she is a witch and is taken to a place called Halloweentown where everything is Halloween. When an evil sorcerer tries to destroy Halloweentown, it is up to Marnie, her grandma and her younger siblings to save Halloweentown. In the series there are 4 movies and while I did enjoy the last two they weren’t the same as Halloweentown and Halloweentown II due to the change of actress to the main character Marnie.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

The next film is perfect for Halloween, Christmas or anytime of year and that is of course Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The Nightmare Before Christmas revolves around the pumpkin king Jack Skellington who discovers Christmas and attempts to bring Christmas into his crazy world of Halloween. I love this movie because of the characters, mostly Jack and Sally. Tim Burton always knows how to bring the characters to life and make them relatable even if they’re a pumpkin and a doll. And the soundtrack (like all Tim Burton’s movies) is amazing as well!

Harry Potter Series (2001-2011)

Who would I be if I didn’t add this series to this list? You all know my love for the Harry Potter series so I feel like I don’t have to say much about this series. But with wizards, witches, magic and more it just screams Halloween! I would one day would love to watch all 8 movies in one day I just need to find someone to do it with me!

Casper Meets Wendy (1998)

The next movie is one I used to love watching as a kid and that is Casper meets Wendy. Casper meets Wendy is a movie about Casper the friendly ghost who teams up with a young witch to face an evil warlock. This movie is great because it shows friendship and bringing people together. Plus who doesn’t love a young Hillary Duff??

Corpse Bride (2005)

The next movie is probably my favorite Tim Burton movie and that is Corpse Bride. Corpse Bride is about a groom who finds himself married to a deceased young woman after practicing his wedding vows. I love this movie for the storytelling and the loveable characters. I love the colors in this movie as well you can tell the difference between the living world and the world of the dead.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

The next movie is once again a Tim Burton movie and that is Sweeney Todd. A couple years back when I lived in my first apartment the girl I lived with loved Tim Burton movies so during Halloween time she showed me some of Tim Burton’s movies and I fell in love with them. He has a lot of movies and I would like to say I’ve seen them all one day. Sweeney Todd was the first of those movies that she showed me. Other than watching her play through Kingdom Hearts, watching these movies was one of my favorite memories in that apartment. Back to talking about the movie, Sweeney Todd is about a man named Benjamin Barker who sets up a barber shop to get revenge on the man who took his family away from him. Because this movie is based off the Broadway musical of Sweeney Todd there is a lot of wonderful music in this movie. I also love Helena Bonham Carter’s character Mrs. Lovett and how much she turns obsessed with having a future with Sweeney Todd.

Sleepy Hollow(1999)

The last Tim Burton movie on my list is Sleepy Hollow. Sleepy Hollow is a movie about Ichabod Crane is sent to a town called Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people as well as finding and stopping the legendary killer, the Headless Horseman. This movie is great because there are twists and turns in this movie that you don’t expect.

The Phantom of the Opera (2004)

So even though you wouldn’t think this movie would be considered a Halloween movie but to me it has Halloween vibes, and this movie is The Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom of the Opera is about a young girl named Christine who becomes the obsession of a musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House. When I was around 10 years old my family and I went to New York City to see a couple of broadway shows. My sisters, cousins and I got to see the broadway production of Beauty and the Beast while my mom and her sisters saw the broadway production of Phantom of the Opera. If I would have known then how much I loved the movie years later I would have chosen to see Phantom of the Opera though Beauty and the Beast was still a night to remember. I love the music, I love the casting (Gerard Butler hello handsome) and just the way The Phantom is obsessed with Christine makes my heart skip a beat.

Practical Magic (1998)

The last movie on this list is Practical Magic. Practical Magic is about two witch sisters who have to face closed-minded prejudice in their small hometown and a curse that threatens to prevent the sisters from finding everlasting love. I love this movie because it gives me memories of when I was younger and watching this movie with my mom. She loved this movie and when Halloween came around she would always want to watch this movie and I would watch it with her.

Conclusion

So that’s all of my favorite Halloween movies! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it all together! Did I miss any movies on my list? What are your favorite Halloween movies? Like I said before this is going to be the first of a week’s worth of Halloween posts leading up to the 31st! I’m putting a lot of work into these posts and I hope you enjoy them all! Reasons Why Autumn is the Best Season!

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday and welcome to another blog post! Autumn weather finally hit here after days and days of rain and as I stepped outside today I was reminded once again oh how wonderful Autumn is. I live in the midwest so I get to experience all four seasons of the year and though each has its perks I always seem to look forward to Autumn most of all. For today’s post, I thought it would share with you why I think Autumn is the best season. So let’s get into it, here is why I think Autumn is the best season!

Colorful Leaves and Brisk Breeze

So like I said before, Autumn weather has finally hit where I am. The last couple weeks it has either been really cold in the morning and then hot in the afternoon or just rainy all day but the last couple of days it has been the perfect Autumn weather. In the morning it has been cold and instead of it being hot and humid like it was before it stays cold but the sun is out so it feels a little warmer. Weather like this is perfect for walks and by the end of it you won’t be sweating your cute Autumn makeup off.

Speaking of Autumn walks another reason I love Autumn is for the leaves changing colors. I love all the different shades of burnt reds, oranges, and yellows. Something about the leaves falling and feeling the brisk breeze makes my heart warm.

My Color of Life!

One of my favorite colors of all time is Burgundy and Maroon. It is such a dark deep beautiful red and looks beautiful on pretty much anything. From fashion and makeup to hair color I will instantly fall in love with whatever this color is on. Autumn is the time where my color of life comes out and stock up on things to get me through the rest of the year.

The Darker the Better

Speaking of makeup, Autumn is the season for darker and more dramatic makeup. As much as I love makeup and posting makeup reviews I am not the greatest at makeup, especially eye makeup. Even though I’m not the greatest I love to watch Autumn makeup tutorials and drool over my dream palette Morphe 35F. Autumn is also the time to bring out all of my favorite dark lip colors as well. I mean I wear my color of life on my lips all year round but it’s more suitable during this time of year.

Sweaters and More!

Going along with the fashion/makeup part of Autumn, I can’t get enough of Autumn fashion. As much as I love summer dresses, I always look forward to the day when I can put away my shorts and summer dresses and pull out the sweaters, scarves coats and boots from hiding. It is so hard going to shops and not buying every single sweater I see because they are so soft and so comfy and they are all I wear during Autumn. This Autumn I’ve been really been getting into mustard yellow and of course, my color of life :).

This Is Halloween

How can I talk about Autumn and not mention the best holiday ever? If you don’t know already, I live for Halloween 365 days of the year. I loved it as a kid for the costumes, pumpkin carving, and the great movies, and even though I don’t get to do as much for Halloween as an adult my love for Halloween is still there, maybe even more. Plus as an adult, I can eat all the Halloween I want and no one can tell me no… especially when that candy is on clearance.

Blankets, Hot Chocolate, Comfort Food and Cuddling

The last thing I love about Autumn is being able to cuddle up in a layer of blankets and enjoy hot chocolate, coffee or a bowl of chili or stew. One of the things I love to do (especially in October) is have friends come over and have a Halloween movie marathon while enjoying these comfort foods. Plus with it being cold out, it is a great excuse to cuddle up with your special someone.

Conclusion

So that is why I think Autumn is the best season! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did writing it! What is your favorite part of Autumn? Are you getting excited for Halloween now that we are in the middle of October? Let me know in the comments below those as well as ideas for other blog posts, I’m always open to new ideas!
