Getting Back into Adobe Illustrator!// Motivational Quotes and Why I Love Graphic Design!

Happy Sunday/Monday and welcome to another better late than never blog post! This past week I was talking with a few people and it made me realize a few things. First I was talking with one of my best friends (she’s pretty much another sister) and after our talk with her I realized (a lot of things…won’t get into all the details) one of the reasons why I wanted to be a graphic designer was because I enjoyed making digital illustrations and hand lettering… or I guess messing around with fonts and pictures in my case. Then I was talking to a co-worker I also realized after listening to his major project he is currently working on and his goals I wanted to get into my big secret project that I stopped working on months ago (maybe one day when it’s finally happening I’ll talk all about why I stopped for a while)! I guess I’ve gotten so used to just getting on my computer, and only opening Adobe Illustrator just to make a “picture” for social media when I have new blog posts I kinda just forgot about why I loved graphic design and Adobe Illustrator to begin with!

All in all after lots of talking about dreams and life and realizing a bunch of things, what better than to have a blog post with some stuff I’ve been working on in the past couple days. I’ve been really loving on Pinterest those Tumblr like motivational quotes in a bulky font in front of a flower picture so watch out… you’ll notice a theme.

These quotes have been very helpful to me these past couple of weeks, they help me get motivated and stay in a good mind space so for anyone who is feeling down or need a little motivation, hopefully these quotes can help you like they helped me! So let’s get to the quotes!

When You Find Something You Are Passionate About…

If You Are Getting Impatient Just Remember…

It’s going to happen.. Just keep working at it :).

Don’t Over Do Things…Take…

Small Steps are still steps… You are still getting somewhere.

Whatever You are Doing…

Because self happiness and self confidence is way better than impressing someone.

Whatever Your Passion Is…

…you or your work with others. Everyone is at a different stepping stage… use them as motivation and inspiration instead of way to get down on yourself.

When Someone Tells You That You Can’t Tell Them…

Because you can.

Something to Ponder on…

This one hit me hard…

And Finally… For all the Strong Women out there…

Let’s empower each other and motivate each other to be the best we can be!

So that’s all of them.. Or at least the ones I had time to do (trust me there are way more I wanted to do)! These photos (as much as I wanted to be the one who took them) were found on Pinterest but I did edit a couple with Adobe Illustrator to make them more interesting to the eye. I really enjoyed getting back into making these kinds of doodles and I hope at least one of these quotes helped you if you were feeling a little down or needed any motivation.

What are you passionate about? What are some of your favorite quotes? Let me know in the comments below as well as what else you would like to see me blog about!

If you haven’t already and you would like to, you should check out my social media to get first notifications on when new blog posts are up or just the random things I do in my daily life!

My Hair Evolution!

Happy Sunday/Monday and welcome to another blog post! Since I’m always wanting to let you guys get to know me, I thought what better whan than doing that than showing some cringe worthy photos of me. That’s right, I’m talking about my Hair Evolution throughout the years. I’m always telling people about a certain hairstyle and digging through my Instagram and Facebook to prove to them it actually happened so might as well just go through it all today! Now normally when people do Hair Evolution posts or videos they show off all the different color they’ve had but I didn’t really start coloring my hair crazy colors until last month so mine is mostly filled with… oh why tell you now and let’s just get into it!

My Natural Hair

Look at my baby face! This photo is from July 2007 and this is my natural hair. For as long as I could remember I always had longish brown curly hair with the occasion of trimming it every once in awhile. Around this time I just got into straightening my hair (I remember spending a long time in the morning doing it because it was so long and thick) I hated my curls so much back then so those rare occasions when I actually let my hair be naturally curly (and didn’t curl it…even though I had naturally curly hair??) I still had to at least straighten my “bangs” because I hated how much it looked.

August 2011

So I kept it like that for pretty much my middle school and high school days. I straightened and curled it a lot and the shortest I would ever let it get was to my shoulders. But I just graduated high school and had the new me kind of attitude. Plus this was the time that my favorite actress Emma Watson had cut her hair in a pixie cut and I wanted to be just like her but when I went to get it done I got scared and couldn’t go full pixie. I didn’t mind the cut, It was very hard to manage though with my curls (It was almost a fro) so yes by cutting it killed all the dead ends from heat but I was still straightening my hair every day.

July 2012 First Hair Dying Experience

So in the summer of 2012 I decided that it was finally time to do something different. Before this the most dyeing I’ve done with my hair is a few blonde highlights here and there but not fully dyeing all of it. But I was like what the heck I’m an adult (I was about to turn 19)! I originally wanted to go all black but since it was my first time I was too scared I wouldn’t like it, so I was suggested by my older sister to start with dark brown to see if I like my hair that dark and then maybe go black. It wasn’t a big change compared to my normal brown hair but I enjoyed it and rocked it! It was a great first experience for me and as you can see down the line it wasn’t my last time!

October 2012

So I rocked the dark brown look for a few months, and in October of 2012 I finally got the confidence to go full black. And according to this photo I had enough confidence to try bangs (for the first time… this becomes a reoccurring thing). Now the hard thing with having bangs for me is the fact that I have crazy curly hair and I’m lazy (things haven’t really changed). If I don’t style my bangs they curl up and becomes a poof. If I style my bangs but don’t style my hair it looks like the early hair styles of Hermione Granger. But the days where I wasn’t lazy and actually took the time to style my hair (as much as I could back in the day) I really liked having full bangs.

April 2013

In time I started to get sick of the black and was really missing my brown hair so I let it fade and grow into the closest I would ever get to my once brown hair. The laziness completely took over because I was growing out my bangs as well as my hair. I actually really liked my hair like this, especially the length (I’ve always like myself with long hair more). With the exception of styling my bangs, I actually let my natural curls flow and it was actually pretty cute. Also just a side note, I apparently still had no idea that you can put makeup in your eyebrows.

December 2013

But of course yet again I was bored with just keeping my hair the same so I cut it shoulder length (and miss the length right after) and dye my hair red. Now of course with all the experience I had with dyeing my hair I didn’t think that with the base being brown you wouldn’t be able to have red hair so my hair ended up being more of a maroonish purplish color. I didn’t really mind the maroon hair but it wasn’t what I was wanting.. But I still rocked it! Also, still didn’t know you could have makeup in your brows.

February 2014

The maroon is still pretty much there (I learned that black and red are the two hardest colors to get out of your hair.. Even when you dye it back brown) but spontaneously I decided to try bangs once more! I am impressed with how well they turned out (I usually cut them myself) as well as how much my makeup skills (this is the time I really started getting into makeup) and yet, I still didn’t put makeup on my brows. Guess it didn’t matter much cause I had bangs to cover them up!

May 2014-January 2015 The Game Changer

So of course I got lazy with the bangs and let my hair grow out but I still found myself wanting to do something with my hair. I didn’t want to cut it because I finally got my hair the length I wanted (oh don’t worry… that’s going to change really soon) and I knew that I didn’t wanna go back to black or red so the only color left that was “natural” (Starbucks back then didn’t allow crazy colors as much as I wanted to have crazy colors) blonde. And with the blonde ombre trend going I thought I would hop on the band wagon and try it out. So I went to target, got a kit by Lo’real I think and with the help of my older sister I bleached my tips. I honestly thought it wasn’t going to work (I remember being rushed cause I had to go to work) but once I got out of the shower and saw the blonde I was so in love! I couldn’t believe it actually worked (especially because it came from a box) and the more and more I looked at it the more I fell in love with it. I also noticed that with the blonde in my hair I had this new found confidence in myself, I can’t really explain the confidence I had but I know it was there. Putting blonde in my hair was a huge game changer for me… I even got rid of it for like a month and missed it and the confidence that came with it so I put it back then… until the next hairstyle…

May 2015

It must have been a trend where everyone around me was having a pixie cut (Emma Watson’s hair had grown out way from her pixie cut) because even though I loved the blonde hair and I loved the length my hair was I suddenly really wanted to try for a pixie cut again. But once more when I got to the hair salon I chickened out and this was the result. I was a little nervous because It was literally an hour before work when I got my hair done and I had no time to style it because I had to work, but I was pleasantly surprised with how my natural curls took the haircut (aka it wasn’t an afro). Plus it seemed like my co-workers liked it (or at least they were surprised which that was my goal!) so if anything just the excitement of doing it on the limb was fun enough!

June 2015

So finally after a few weeks I decided to just do it and I got hair cut to a pixie! It was also just in time for the Marianas Trench concert that I’ve been so excited for, I thought that what a good time to get my hair cut than for this concert! After years of wanting to do it but chickening out right at the end I finally just did it and I actually really liked it! The curls took it fine and went great with the hat and outfit for the concert!

June 2015 continued

I actually liked it so much that a few short weeks later I took the pixie cut to the next level and shaved half my hair! (with the help of my older sister of course) The main reason why I decided to shave half my hair is because of my curls. With the normal pixie cut there were times when my hair would dry and just poof out. So by cutting it it stays more flat and I just have to worry about styling only half of my hair, and it works out with the lazy part of me which is a plus!

August 2015-December 2015

It didn’t take long until I started to feel insecure with my hair after getting the pixie cut. So through these next couple months since I knew it would take a while to grow (as much as I wished it would grow fast) I wore lots of hats (especially one certain black knit hat when it got cold) to hide my insecurities. As it slowly started to grow I noticed and joked around with friends and family that my hair was going through the “Bieber” look. But it was growing, and that’s all that mattered to me.

March 2016

After a few months of it growing and remembering the confidence I used to have I decided around spring break to get my hair colored to help with the insecurity I had with my hair. I worked with a few girls who went to school at Aveda so I set up an appointment with her and was excited and nervous for the change. Must be something about just having blonde in my hair but after it was done and I walking out of the salon I felt so happy and confident again with my hair. Few days later I went back in and got an undercut by one of her fellow peers. It was a great idea to get the undercut because not only does it bring more air to the back of my head but it keeps the back of my hair from poofing the more it grows. So Maddie if you are reading this thank you so much again for giving me confidence again and helping me like my hair again.

July 2016: Hair Growth

Around this time it has been a year and a month since I got a pixie cut and then shaved half my hair. It may not seem like it’s grown a lot, but thinking about it, even just from March to July it has noticeably grown! Even though it has faded, I still loved the blonde that was still in my hair and it even looked great with my natural curls!

I do have to add that even though I missed my hair long and felt insecure with my short hair I don’t regret getting my hair in a pixie cut. I wanted to do it for a long long time and I’m glad that I did it and now know how I look with it. So for future reference if I had the desire to do it again I know what to expect from it… but I don’t think that’s going to happen for a long time.

August 2016: Silver Fox

So with my hair starting to grow more the more it was time to change my hair again (don’t worry, no more cutting it). I was going through some rough times mentally so I went to Maddie again and with her magic we created the Silver Fox! I loved loved loved this color and even now I still miss it (so hey, maybe one day you will see the Silver Fox again) and is always impressed with her skills. I was too nervous to dye my hair silver (wasn’t sure how it would turn out) so Maddie had the idea to just do the silver when we went to tone it. I love the silver because it had some tints of teal which gave the silver more dimension.

September 2016

As much as I loved being the “Silver Fox” it lasted for about 2 weeks because it was just a toner. But I loved the blonde in my hair (Thank You Maddie once again!) I was originally going to go back to the Silver Fox but I loved the blonde was, I wasn’t ready to give up the blonde yet! Plus let’s be honest… hair appointments are expensive :(((!

January 2017

So keeping the blonde I just let my hair do it’s thing and grow! I let my hair air dry (with a little help of hair mousse to keep it from poofing) and cut back on styling it as much to keep it healthy (and cause I’m lazy). But every so often when I did want to mix it up I would straighten my hair just to see how long it has grown.

To be honest I am shocked with how well my hair evened out itself when it was growing out. And even though I didn’t think so, every time I would talk to a friend or run into an old friend they would say how fast my hair has grown when I tell them I had a pixie cut 2 years ago. Looking back at it all now I can say they were right and I was just impatient.

May 2017

So as you guys know, I got bored with my hair and I can’t right now afford what I really want to do with I thought why not and went on a whim and had some fun with my hair until I can afford a salon appointment (now that work allows “unnatural” hair colors in the new dress code)! I really enjoyed having pink hair and would I do it again… most likely.

The sad thing about the pink is that it didn’t last as long (you would know if you read my blog post all about it, you should go check it out if you haven’t) so instead of doing pink again I thought that this time around I would do teal! And on top of it all I once again I convinced myself that I won’t be lazy and will take care of them and gave myself bangs… I blame Pinterest.

I really do enjoy doing these crazy colors I’ve been doing, it is fun way to express myself without doing something as drastic as cutting my hair (the dye is semi-permanent) but still satisfies my need for change and gives my life more of a pop of color. I would like to someday try out more colors but I don’t know what is in store for my hair or style. I still really want to do what I’ve originally want to do with my hair so we shall see how soon I will be able to do that! Until then who wants to bet on how long I’m going to keep the bangs again? Third time’s the charm maybe??

So that’s it! That is all the hairstyles I have had! It was fun (with a few cases of cringe) to go through all the pictures (via Facebook or Instagram) and to go back on memory lane. What is the craziest hairstyle or color you rocked? Also if you liked this type of post let me know what other type of posts you would like me to do in the comments below! Thank you for reading, I know the last couple posts have been pretty long ones so if you made it this far thank you!

Recap of March// The Month of Patience

Happy Tuesday and welcome to another blog post! A new month is coming this week so it is time for another recap post! Even though I no longer do bullet journaling I still enjoy doing these recaps so let’s just get right into it!

Patience is a Virtue

This month has been all about patience. As you know for a few months now I have been working on this huge project for you guys and I am so close of getting done. When I first started this project back in early to middle January I had the goal in mind to get the project done and ready to show either by late February or early March. It is now almost April, and it is still not ready. I’ve showed some of the people close to me a sneak peak of the project and they really like it and excited to see more. I should be happy enough with the positive feedback that I could justify showing it, but I couldn’t get myself to share it early.

I was at a war with myself whether to share it now or keep working on it that I was getting impatient with myself. If people who I showed liked it now where it is at, who wouldn’t say the public would like it as well? But then I started thinking, if they liked it where it was now, they would like it even more with the stuff I want to add. I couldn’t decide and the more I thought about it the more I was getting so impatient. It got to the point that I was about to say fuck it and release it. But thankfully after sitting myself down and forcing myself to just think about it I finally calmed myself down and convinced myself to just wait and to keep working on it.

It Wouldn’t be Complete

If I caved into my lack of patience and put my project out for you guys, whether I would have gotten a positive or a negative feedback about it, it wouldn’t have mattered. I wouldn’t have been happy with it. This project is the biggest project that I have ever made, it is my baby, so when I finally reveal it, I want it to be something that I am proud of. When you see it, I want you to see the effort that I have put in this for the past couple of months.

There is so much I would love to do with the project and not being able to add to it before making it public, it just wouldn’t feel right that it’s not finished. Also if I decided to reveal it now and then decide to add more, it would be more work for me and I wouldn’t be able to move on to other projects until I am completely satisfied with the project.

When will it be ready?

So now that I have decided to keep working on it and not release it yet, and every other post I mention this project, when will it be ready? To answer that question honestly, I really don’t know. Earlier this month I thought that it was ready to show you, but now that I know where I want to go with this project and the work I have ahead of me before I am comfortable enough to show you, I don’t know a timeline for showing you it. But don’t worry, I am still working on it!

In order to get it to that point, it is going to take a little more time. So I ask you to please be patient, because it is coming. In the meantime, I hope you can still enjoy my blog posts and you may never know, I could be dropping a few hints here or there (if I haven’t already…tehe).

1 Second Everyday

While scrolling down Instagram I saw that one of my new favorite Youtubers Kelly Eden had posted a video using the app “1 Second Everyday” to show her followers a little bit of her past month. What the app is exactly what the title says, a recording of a second of your life every single day. Watching this I was inspired and got the app myself. Now I will say that the app is $4.99 on the Itunes Store, but if you use it everyday it will be worth it, or at least that’s what I told myself to justify spending $4.99 on an app.

With this app I feel like it will be awesome for these monthly recaps so I can show you a taste of my life in a matter of seconds as well as my words on a blog post. I want to do this every month and hopefully by the end of the year, I’ll have a full year of seconds.

A Year In Pixels

This month for my anxiety wasn’t that bad. I feel like for the most part I had control with my anxiety. There were times, especially when it came to work, that I felt my anxiety kicking in, but not enough to have a full on panic attack. I feel with the goal of getting my big project done, I have something to keep my mind away from anxiety. Plus posting blog posts every Sunday and Tuesday helps as well because I’m always thinking about what I want to write about next.

March Favorites

Favorite Memory: I have a few favorite memories this month. This month I got together with some old coworkers to celebrate a birthday. It was awesome being able to see some friends I haven’t seen in awhile! This month during “spring break” I got to see an early screening of “Beauty and the Beast” with my sisters. It was awesome being able to not only re-living a childhood memory but getting to spend it with my sisters.

Favorite Makeup: This month I bought and reviewed a couple of lipsticks from the makeup brand called Lime Crime and I loved them! I did a few swatch and review post so if you haven’t read it, you should check it out! Out of all the Velvetines, my favorite would have to be “Eclipse”.

Current Song Obsession: Flyers by Bradio. It is a song off of the anime “Death Parade” (an anime I haven’t seen yet, but it’s on my list) and I loved it so much I had to look up the full version. I’ve been obsessed with it since!

And that is all I have for March’s recap! I hope you had a wonderful March, let me know in the comments below what are some of your March Favorites! I’m excited to see what April brings, and I can’t wait to share more blog posts and doodles with you as well! If you have an idea for a blog post let me know in the comments. Until Sunday, I hope you have a great week!

Let’s Get Chatty// Bringing Things Together

Hi there and welcome to another blog post! I’m starting this blog post at 11:30 pm and I have to be at work at 8 am tomorrow so I don’t know how long this blog post is going to be but since it is Sunday and I recently put a post on Instagram that there will be blog posts every Tuesday and Sunday I didn’t want to leave you guys hanging with what’s left of Sunday.

I was gonna blog about my collection of pastel things (believe me there’s a lot and it just seems to keep growing) but that would have involved doing a photoshoot and then editing the photos and I did not have time on my side today. Instead since I didn’t want to leave you hanging I thought I would just chit chat with you a little.

The Habit of Losing Things

What I originally planned on how my day would go when I woke up this morning was that I was going to spend a few hours working on my project in the morning. When I felt like I was at a good stopping point or I was hungry, I would take a break, go grocery shopping with David, spend some time with him, and then spend the rest of my day working on a good blog post. That of course didn’t happen. I did manage to work on the project (that’s what most of today was spent on) and go grocery shopping but the reason why I am just now working on the blog post because things kept getting in the way of me working on my project.

As you know, I have been working on this secret project for almost a month now and with each day I get closer and closer to getting it where I want it and then finally sharing it with you. It was a goal to get a huge chunk of it done on my day off, getting it from my computer screen to paper in my hands, but losing and looking for items kept stopping me from getting work done. The first time was a ruler I needed. I searched and searched the apartment for a good 20 minutes, David even helped me look, and there was no sign of it anywhere. I was starting to get annoyed and we still needed to go grocery shopping, so I ended up buying a new one. After getting home and getting all the groceries put away I finally sat down and started working. After a little bit I realized I needed the scissors and they were once again, nowhere to be found. I was already a little frustrated from the losing the ruler and was getting more and more frustrated because I remember using them literally the night before and I already lost them. Eventually I found them and was back to working but was still a little worked up after searching for two different items in the same hour.

Now after all this you would think that if I just put the ruler and the pair of scissors where they were supposed to go I wouldn’t have spent all that time finding them. To that I say that even though you do make a valuable point, I have a habit of not doing that and life sometimes has a way of biting bad habits right on your bottom.

Flamingos and Unicorns: Bringing them Together

Now this week I have been very conflicted emotionally. As well all know (or if you don’t you know now) when I first started my brand I really wanted to base it off of the season that it was born which is summer so pastel pink, palm trees and my favorite…. The Flaming. Recently my love for pastel pink has gone crazy (aka the idea for my Pastel Pink obsession blog post) and I was online shopping on a website called Lime Crime and fell in love with the mix of metallic silver with all the pastel colors as well as unicorns. I love it so much that this week I was debating dropping the summer flamingo vibe and going ahead with the metallic pastel unicorn vibe. I was so torn because I found something that could go perfect with my brand but I didn’t want to lose what I already had. Then today while I was catching up on the Youtube family The Michalaks’ videos as I was working I realized something.

In one of their blogs during this past summer they went to a hotel pool party for an event. They were outside having a great time, there were adorable shots of their son playing with other children when I noticed two familiar figures floating in the pool. A flamingo and a unicorn. I don’t know why it took me until this very moment to realize that it is ok to have both but during that moment I had finally made my decision. As humans it is natural for us to change what we enjoy, but that doesn’t mean we have to completely drop it for something else. I don’t know how I’m going to merge the two, but I will try and keep you guys updated!

There really isn’t a conclusion to this post because I’m not making any real points like I normally do in posts but it looks like I have run out of time and should really head of to bed. Even though today didn’t go exactly how I wanted it to be, I am glad that I got to do a post that didn’t take as much planning as others have and was able to just chat with you. If you enjoyed this as much as I did, I plan on dedicating more posts to just chatting with you because if I don’t, I feel I may lose motivation and get burnt out (especially now that I’m posting twice a week) so look forwards to that!

If you guys want me to still do the “What I own that is Pastel Pink” (still working on a title) let me know, I think it would be fun to shoot and maybe it will help keep the pastel pink craze in control (but it probably won’t but hey worth a shot?).

I’m also going to leave a link to the Michalaks’ Youtube channel down below as well as a link to Lime crime Cosmetics for anyone interested in both. If you have seen my Instagram story a few nights ago you know that I ended up buying a bunch of lipsticks that I plan on doing a blog post about soon!

I hope you guys have a wonderful week and I will see you on Tuesday!

Recap of February//The Month of Motivation

Hello and welcome to another blog post! March is coming this week so this blog post would normally be a recap of the last month and then a “Plan With Me” for the next month but after this past month I have come to the conclusion that I have no need for a Bullet Journal.

Now why would I already give up on Bullet Journaling when it’s only the 2nd month in the new year? Well I’m glad you asked, I have two points on why Bullet Journaling isn’t right for me.

Good Intentions, but Never Used it

Like I said in the Introduction to my Bullet Journal blog is that I already have an agenda that I love and use almost everyday so Bullet Journaling for me wasn’t for the monthly and weekly spreads. What I was hoping to use mine for instead was to keep track of some habits and more importantly to record and keep track of my Doodle and Blog Goal. In the end the only real page I really used (other than my Doodle and Blog Goal) was the notes page and my “A Year in Pixels” Page. I had good intentions with the tracker page, but by the time I went to fill it out, it was for a Recap Blog post and I would forget if I drank water every day in the past month.

My Time Can Be Used for Something Else

When I was researching bullet journaling, what really attracted me to bullet journaling was the creative fonts and making each page colorful and creative. With the pages I did make I really enjoyed doing them (like my last February home page, I loved it!). A page like that took about 15 minutes and doing multiple pages took about an hour. Now I know that’s not a lot of time, but for the little to no time I actually used the bullet journal to how much time i’m spending in making each page wasn’t enough for me to keep wanting to do it. I have a lot I’m working on you guys whether be new ideas for blog posts and a huge huge project that I’m so close to sharing and that hour spent making pages for a journal I don’t even use could be used towards getting something I’m really into and excited for out there for you guys.

What does this mean for my Recap Posts?

I may be done with Bullet Journaling (and maybe I’ll wanna get back into it again one day) but I really enjoyed giving you guys a recap of the past month. It not only lets you guys know what I was up to in the past month but a way for me to look back and see how I can grow as a person with each new month. Also if I say something that I’m gonna do next month, I have to do it cause it’s in “ink” ;).

So let’s get into the Recap of February!

Recap of February

Blog Post Motivation

This month was all about re-finding myself in a way. January was rough so going into a new month I wanted to do better for myself. I first started with my lack of blog posting. I went from writing a new blog post every week in December to barley writing in December. Was it because I needed a break after writing so much for Doodlemas? Was it because my anxiety and seasonal depression? In the end it all came down to lack of motivation. Thinking of ideas took way too long because I couldn’t think of what people would want to read. When I finally got an idea that I could stick with it took forever to write because I kept getting distracted and had lack of motivation to finish so I just gave up on them. And then one day when I was browsing around Youtube I found this Youtuber named Kelly Eden. I was introduced to her channel through a Sailor Moon Ring unboxing. I love Sailor Moon, it was one of my first favorite animes as a kid so of course I clicked on it. The next thing I knew I was binge watching all of her videos. Something about her bubbly personality and how she does not care what people think about her made me want to do the same. Watching videos of her and her friends who also have that mindset I think really made me question what I was doing.

In the end when it comes to blog posts, I’m still not where I want to be. But thanks to Kelly and her friends I can feel the motivation and spark come back to blogging, and blogging about what I truly want to blog about, which is me. So if you enjoyed my post with “Studio Ghibli” you’ll be seeing a lot more of those in the future!

If you follow me on Instagram you already know this, but I reached my 100 Doodle Goal this month! I guess a little motivation goes a long way! If I already reached the goal of 100 two months in the year, how many doodles will be done by the end of the year!!

A Year in Pixels

If anything good came out of my Bullet Journaling, it was finding the “A Year in Pixels” page. This may sound weird, but I really think using this page helps me with my anxiety and I’m hoping at the end of the year when I look back at it I can see how much control I really do have on it. I decided since I’m going to continue with the page I want to make it look a lot cleaner, so I made it digital!

February Favorites

Also since I am no longer doing a “Plan With Me” for the next month I thought I would share some of my favorites of the month to take its place.

Favorite Memory: It was really nice outside so David (my boyfriend) and I took around the park. It was really nice spending time with him outside and enjoying the nice weather (70 degrees in February!)

Current Song Obsession: “Body Moves” by DNCE. I first heard this song on a Spotify ad and I couldn’t stop laughing when I first saw it.

Current Favorite Anime/Show: David and I spent this month mostly watching Samurai Jack on Hulu. I loved watching it when it originally came out on Cartoon Network when I was a kid and I can’t wait for the revamp of it to come out next month.

All together, this month was a good month. After this month I feel like I’m going to be able to write more blog posts and get on track with my blog post goal. I also can’t wait to share with you guys the big project that I’ve been working on. I’ve worked really hard on it!

How was your February? Did you do anything memorable or have a favorite show for me and David to watch? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you have a wonderful day and I will see you in the next post!

2017 Goals and Introduction to My Bullet Journal

Happy January!! And a very happy new year! And what a better way to start the new year with a new blog post!!

At the start of a new year, we as people make unrealistic “Resolutions” to make ourselves better and by the time the year ends, we find that we break the resolutions a long time ago. With the start of I finally found a purpose to create doodles and get back into blogging and as the months went by my passion for art and writing became stronger and stronger. I want to become a better blogger and create better doodles so instead of Resolutions, this year I made three reasonable goals for me to accomplish in 2017. My goals are as follows…

1. Write 50 blogs

With the help of Doodlemas, I got in the habit of dedicating Sundays to writing my blogs. My schedule works perfectly that way, and you get a new blog post at the beginning of each week. I did that math and I counted that in 2017 there are 53 Sundays. I originally wanted to have my goal to write a blog post every Sunday this year but I got to thinking, there may be weeks that I am sick or have plans that I can’t cancel. So instead of 53 I decided on 50, that gives me 3 “skip” weeks. Plus 50 is a better number to remember than 53.

2. Create 100 Doodles!

Now I know 100 doodles seems like a lot, but from September-December I created 60 doodles!! (and that’s not even including the work I did for school) If I can create that many doodles in just three months, how many do you think I can create in 12 months! And plus even if I surpass the 100 mark, next year’s goal can be even higher!

3. Establish my Youtube Channel

Wait you have a Youtube Channel Kat? Why yes, I do. We all know my love for my favorite Youtubers and I’ve always enjoyed watching vlogs (leading to the creation of Doodlemas… Vlogmas to Youtubers = Doodlemas to me). One of my favorite vloggers have mastered the art of time elapse and I have become interested in time elapses. Since the outside of where I live is boring I thought why don’t I create a time elapse of a doodle! So with the little information I know about iMovie and making videos I made my first ever doodle time elapse! There is no music and I’m still messing around with the placement of my camera (that’s why it’s filmed sideways) but I enjoyed doing it so much! I got to thinking I can do more of these, and make them fun by adding your contributes to ideas and thus’s Youtube Channel started.

If you go to my channel, you will see that is not even close to where I want it to be. I need to take updated photos of myself (unfortunately my hair is no longer silver) and I really want to change my Youtube banner when I get more doodle videos up.

Now when I say “establish” my Youtube Channel, I don’t mean gain a bunch of followers and suddenly have my focus be on my Youtube Channel. I just want to take this year to get it up and running like I did my Instagram, Facebook page, and slowly my blog page and website. Creating doodles will always be my main goal, having this Youtube Channel is just another way to portray my doodles. 🙂

Now the only way to reach my third goal is to actually do it and create content and videos but how am I going to keep track of my progress in my first two goals? Let me introduce you to my new and first Bullet Journal!

I’ve been doing research on Bullet Journals for a while now, and I know that a lot of users use their bullet journal for weekly things but I already have an agenda or planner that I use everyday and love (if you’re wondering it’s by so my Bullet Journal will have monthly things but not weekly things.

There are a lot of really good journals specifically made for bullet journaling, but since it was my first one, I went with a notebook from Target.

When you first open it, the first page is my Year in a Glance page. Note, lesson learned, always take the extra step and write the days in pencil first before inking because as you can see, there were some mistakes made with the days in the month.

Going to the next page it goes straight into my Blog Post Goal. With every post written I then color in the number until all 50 spots are colored in!

And because I like to see things in a list, if you turn the page, you see my Blog Post List where I can see which blog post was written for each week. When this blog post finally goes up (it’s past Sunday, off to a great start already) I can go to my bullet journal, color a number and add it to my list.

The next 5 pages are dedicated to a Blog Idea Log. Sometimes when I can’t sleep I find myself thinking of new blog ideas and don’t want to lose them. Sometimes the ideas for new blog posts come to me randomly but I already have a blog post planned for the week. This way, not only can I write this idea so I don’t forget the idea, but I can also keep track of the progress on the blog post (like when I finish writing it, and take pictures.)

After the last page for the Blog Idea Log it goes into my Doodle Goal. The concept is the same as the Blog Post Goal Page but instead of the goal being 50, the goal is 100!

This next page is a big page to me, it is called A Year in Pixels. When I was doing research I came across this idea on Pinterest and it hit me right at home. As you know I have anxiety, some days are really good days mentally, and other days are bad days. On this page is a chart of everyday in the year 2017. After each day I color in the box of that day depending on how the day went. If the day went wonderful (there’s never a perfect day) it’s a red, a good day orange, an ok day yellow, a bad day green and the worst day blue. At the end of the year this gives me a chance to look back on the year to see how much my anxiety and mental days really affect me. What I really love about this page is the quote I found.

“Just remember, even your worst day only lasts 24 hours.”

This is a wonderful reminder that even bad days don’t last too long and that everyday isn’t a bad day.

After that page, it goes into the month of January. I have January wrote in a fun font, a little snow globe with a snowman, and a bigger calendar than on my A Year in a Glance Page.

Flipping the page, you see my page for Notes and my Tracker Page. Throughout the month, if I have any mental notes for any doodles or blogs that aren’t strong enough to put on my blog idea log or a good reminder instead of making a million notes on my phone I can write it on this page.

When I was doing research on Bullet Journaling I found a bunch of people using this and I was really excited to use this. If you don’t know what a Tracker or a Habit page as some people call them, it pretty much is a habit tracker. There are some things I need to be better about or habits I’ve been doing that I would like to keep track of. On this page, like the A Year in Pixels page there is a chart, but instead of the year it is the month of January. The reason why it is only the current month, because habits and things I may want to work on may change throughout the year. Everyday before I go to bed I open to this page, if I did the habit or the things I am working on I mark it. If I didn’t do it, I leave it blank. At the end of the month when getting next month ready, I can look back onto my tracker and really see what my habits are.

And there you have it, my goals and the introduction to my Bullet Journal! I hope this helped in any way. I know we are only on day 2 in the new year, but I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. If you made any resolutions or goals let me know what they are in the comments below! If you also started a bullet journal or are continuing one comment below any tips or pages you enjoy! I enjoyed being creative and getting mine all ready and is excited for months to come!

Until next time, I will see you in the next blog post!

Summer Favorites 2016

Happy Fall everyone! Close friends know that fall is my favorite time of the year with it being the season of Halloween, my most favorite holiday of all time.

But before I forget all the hot summer days and dive into my love which is fall, I wanted to share with you my summer favorites. These are items that I have discovered either in makeup (lets be honest, almost all of them are makeup) beauty products or fashion. So without further ado, I give to you my Summer Favorites 2016.

Since most of my favorites are makeup items, let’s first start with the makeup items.

Benefit’s Watt’s Up! Cream Highlighter

The first favorite is a highlighter. I know I know, I’m late to join the highlighting wagon, but I am here now and now feel like my face is a ghost without them.

I’ve always wanted to try highlighting my face but I one didn’t know how to do it or what product I should use. I watched carefully at how my favorite Youtube makeup artists did their highlighting and one day while at Sephora with my sister I was looking at highlighters and the one that caught my eye the most was the Benefit’s Watt’s Up! Cream Highlighter.

The bulb like packaging is very hard to miss. On one side is the formula and on the opposite side is a huge sponge to blend the highlight out. I was already interested in the product because it was by Benefit, my favorite high-end makeup brand (for the adorable vintage packaging and the good formulas) so I knew that the formula would be great. When I swatched it on my hand I was happy to see that the product not only was soft and smooth (not heavy and hard to blend) but how it also was a soft highlight and not the “get your sunglasses on cause I’m gonna blind you” bright color. The huge sponge on the end is not only perfect for beginners like me but makes the process go faster so I’m not spending hours on just highlighting my face. It is a little more expensive than your drugstore highlighter, but it does last a long time, I got mine in early June and I still have a lot of product left.

Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzer

So with me trying out highlighting, of course I couldn’t try highlight without also bronzing. I was a little more nervous with trying bronzer so I wanted to try something simple. Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzer was the perfect match for me because of the formula being matte, so no shine (that’s what the highlight is for).

The product comes with it’s own brush but I like to use my own brush to powder over my chin cheeks and forehead. It does take a little bit to blend it in (around the cheeks) but I love how it gives me the natural-looking “tan” all day. I was nervous that I would end up not using as much bronzer so I only got a sample, but I ended up loving it and it goes well with my makeup routine!

Benefit’s CORALista Coral Blush

When it comes to blushes, I can’t get enough of coral! I was originally using the Coral color by Maybeline (can’t remember the exact name but I know it was in there Fit Me collection) but had always wanted to try Benefit’s Coralista Coral blush. Every time I went to either Sephora or Ulta to get it they were always out, so when I went with my sister (to get the highlight and bronzer) I was happy to see it stocked and had to get my hands on it.

Like Hoola Matte Bronzer, Coralista coral blush came with its own brush but I like to use my own brush to lightly brush it over my cheeks under the highlight. I can see why it was always sold out in stores, this blush definitely goes under my go to blushes of all time.

Benefit’s Brow Collection: Goof Proof Brow Pencil, Gimme Brow, High Brow Glow Brow Highlighter

This summer Benefit came out with a whole new brow collection that is to die for. Before I was using a cheap little pallet and was ready for a brow makeover. I first was introduced to the collection through some of my favorite Youtube makeup artists (they got a first look at it…lucky ducks) so when it finally reached stores I had to get my hands on them.

Nine products came out (some were old products with a new formula which is awesome) and of course with Benefit being Benefit with eye catching silver packaging with bright pink lettering. Even though there is nine products, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to get all nine products to sculpt the perfect brow. Everyone has different eyebrow needs so everyone can find one product helpful and a one not so helpful. Another thing I love about this collection is that there is six different shades (numbered from 01-06) to choose from ranging from light to deep. Once you find your number (I am number 04- medium) you can easily pick out the other brow products you want without going through the hassle of finding your color again.

Out of the nine products I found three of them to be my favorite. I first use to shape my brows the Goof Proof Eyebrow pencil. After testing it out for the first time I can honestly say that the name “Goof Proof” lives up to it’s name. It gives inexperienced people with eyebrows (like myself) an easy way to fill and shape your eyebrows in little to no time which is perfect for me cause I always seem to be running late to school or work.

After I use Goof Proof I go to the Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel. Gimme Brow is awesome because it is a tinted eyebrow gel that gives the look of fullness and definition. I use Goof Proof and Gimme Brow as a pair, goof proof to shape and fill my brows than Gimme Brow as a “gel glue” (don’t worry it doesn’t glue your brows…that would be bad) to help tame them and give them fullness.

So of course with highlighting the rest of my face, highlighting my eyebrow bone is a no brainer! And what better product to do that than the High Glow Brow Highlighter. Like I mentioned earlier, High Brow and High Brow Glow are two of the old products that have new packaging and a new formula and I am so happy with this new formula. The old High Brow Glow had a beautiful champagne-pink shade but was difficult to blend. Now with the new formula I get the best of both worlds! It really pops out the eyebrows (even though they get hidden with my huge glasses) and really goes well with the highlight on my cheeks and nose bone.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquefied Matte Lipstick

Believe it or not my next makeup favorite is not a Benefit product! I will now and forever be obsessed with the dark lip look and when shopping at Sephora or Ulta I am always in search for my next favorite color. When I was a Sephora I was checking out one of the endcaps talking about liquid lipstick. I’m not a huge fan of liquid lipstick but when I saw that this Too Faced liquid lipstick dried matte I had to swatch it. I swatched it as well as other lipsticks and continued looking around Sephora. As we were shopping around Sephora I looked down at my hand to see that the Too Faced lipstick had indeed turned matte and had to go grab that lip color from that endcap. That color was Drop Dead Red and has been my favorite lip color since. The lip color not only long lasting but stays matte and doesn’t itch or burn your lips.

Since that purchase, I have gotten back to get two more colors, Sell Out, a matte soft pink brown perfect for summer, and Evil Twin, a matte deep dark cherry color for my sassy dark days. Unfortunately I have lost my all time favorite Drop Dead Red but with it now being fall I have a feeling that I will be reunited with it again soon!

Those are all the makeup favorites, now to move on to the beauty products.

Jergens Natural Glow Self Tanner: Color Primer, Instant Sun, Tan Extender

The first beauty product (or products in this case) I want to talk about is Jergens Natural Glow Self Tanner. Now like with everything else, I have no idea what I am doing, and with staying inside everyday with two jobs and being sick of my veiny legs (tmi?) I was just sick of being pasty white during the summer so I was willing to try self tanner. I was looking into getting the self tanner version of Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer but with me being such a beginner I didn’t want to spend too much money on something I could end up hating or barley using. So at target I saw that Jergens had new (could be new, could be old) self tanner products so I thought I would give it a shot. I already knew Jergens was a brand I trusted because I have always used their Ultra Healing lotion and each product was reasonably priced.

Now unfortunately I have to say that I don’t have a full review on the products because I didn’t use them as much as I first intended to… which I knew that would end up happening so it worked out for me in the end! For the few times that I actually used these products I wish I would have gotten a darker shade. I got the Light Bronze shade which barely showed a difference (I am naturally light tan). But for being a foam formula I thought that for my first shot of self tanner, It worked out pretty well.

Glamglow GravityMud Firming Face Mask

I will be honest, the only reason why I got this product was because I saw one of my favorite Youtube makeup artist use this and I was caught on to it because the mask was legit silver. After trying it though I could feel it firming my face without burning it like other masks has before. Also it doesn’t take as long to dry and something ever so satisfying about peeling a silver layer of skin off your face keeps me going back to it during my weekly cleaning routine. I haven’t used the other two masks yet but I am excited to see how they feel on my face.

Note, the other two masks smell wonderful, the silver mask has a strong coconut smell. I personally don’t like the smell of coconuts, but the pure fact of having a silver face for 20 minutes beats the smell of coconuts. If you don’t like the smell of coconuts, you may not like this product especially since they are a little on the pricey side.

Soap & Glory The Scrub of Your Life

Like most of my makeup/beauty products I see a youtube use them and I have to get my hands on it. But of course with my luck both the Walgreens and the CVS Pharmacy near where I live don’t have Soap & Glory (don’t worry, I checked both places) and when I finally found a small section of the brand at my local Ulta I didn’t even find the products she even talked about. But that’s ok, because I found something better.

On a side note before even getting into the actual product can I please take a moment to talk about the packaging Soap & Glory has. To begin with they have a vintage look to every product like Benefit Cosmetics does which I am attracted to but if you take the time to read what each product says, it’s hard to not buy all of their products at once. Like with the Scrub of Your life the front lists off what it does to you skin and casually adds to the end “you start to believe that scrub can conquer all”. Is that not cute or not?! On the back when it is talking about how to use the product it tells customers to “follow all this with Soap & Glory body moisturizer, but we’re biased.” What about that doesn’t make you smile… or in my case want to buy all of their products?!

But back to the actual product. I believe this is the scrub of my life… just like the name says. I put it on my elbows, knees and my heels and instantly feel smoother and I do find myself thinking that this scrub can conquer all (tehe :D). Plus it has a wonderful lime smell to it which makes it even better to use. I am almost out with this bottle and is pretty affordable so I will definitely be repurchasing this in the future.

Soap & Glory Heel Genius

A problem I have noticed I’ve been having this summer is my extra dry heels. Working on my feet for 8-16 hours a day (I know, I worked too much) wearing either tennis shoes or converse over time did nothing but take away any moisture on my feet. But with it being sandal season, I wanted to be able to wear sandals and not feel like people are staring at my extra dry heels (like they would anyways?? You never know.) So when I saw this product I couldn’t help but buy it. Like the rest of their products, the cute saying killed me inside (in a good way of course). It first starts out with “NO MEAN FEET” which I found personally hilarious. It then went on how to use the product but put in “or at least as often as you remember” which if I didn’t have to find a cure for my extra dry heels I would buy and try just for that sentence there. That shows that the people at Soap & Glory understand that we are all complicated forgetful human beings just trying to solve the problem of having dry feet, and for that I applaud and thank you.

Now I say that last sentence because I am truly a complicated forgetful human, aka I forgot most nights to do this. But after only one time of using it I found results the next day. Plus in the morning when I took my socks off the scent of orange and lemon was still on my feet. If using this product helped my extra dry feet feel moisturized after using it a few times, just think of how they would feel if I actually remembered to use this product?

Sandals and More Sandals

Speaking of feet, my last two favorites are two pairs of sandals.

The first pair I found at target, a cheaper knock off brand from everyone’s favorite Birkenstock sandals. I fell in love with them right after buying them. I could wear them with anything, from a comfy t-shirt and jean short pair to my favorite striped dress, these shoes were worn daily. They were worn so much the bottom is starting to tear off.

The next pair I found on clearance (10 dollar steal) at Payless Shoe store when I went to visit my little sister in late June early July. The brand is a brand I have never heard of called Christian Siriano and I instantly fell in love with the contrast between the black and white bottoms. These shoes go great with my favorite skinny  jeans or a cute dress.

So there are my summer favorites! If you are interested in any of the makeup or beauty products, I do have most links below. Also if you like this type of blog let me know, I had so much fun taking these photos (I painted the background myself). Also let me know if you have any ideas for any blog posts, with fall and Halloween being my favorite time of year I have a lot of blog ideas (and hopefully doodles) planned for you!

Hope your summer was well spent and let the fall time begin!
